Yakachinor Community Development Project

Yakachinor community is located in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. Its population is approx. 5,050, most of them being Russian/Ukrainian. Their official language is Tajik. 2% of the children have access to the kindergarten and day care centers. Good Neighbors is planning to provide basic education and meals, and have 573 children sponsored in 2011. We also plan to contribute to their health by providing medical care and health education to the community.

Obchakoron Community Development Project1

Obchakoron is located 12km away from Dushanbe. Its population is 4,450, most of them being Uzbek. Their common language is Uzbek and Tajik. Their elementary school entry rate is only 26%. So we plan to provide basic education, meals, and scholarships so the children can have proper education.  Furthermore, 80% of the population lives with less than 1 USD per day. So we plan to teach technical farming and operate computer and sewing classes to contribute to the locals’ income. Finally, we plan to give various seminars and workshops regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, maternity protection, among others, while providing basic health care.  

Gulparbar Community Development Project

Gulparbar is 12km away from Dushanbe. Its population is 4,380, most of them being Tajik and Uzbek. 85% of the population lives with less than 1 USD per day, and their electricity is limited in the winter, causing difficulties to at least 150 families. Since 2010, we are providing education tools for the children to receive proper education. We plan to expand the electricity facilities to improve their lifestyles. On the other hand, most women have early marriages, and it is difficult for them to be involved in the society. We plan to contribute to the gender equality by providing computer and sewing classes to women.

Kamarob Community Development Project

Kamarob is located approx. 210km away from Dushanbe. Its population is 2,640, most of them benig Tajik. 85% of the population lives with less than 1 USD per day, and their electricity is limited in the winter, causing difficulties to many people. Since 2010, we are providing education tools for the children to receive proper education. We plan to expand the electricity facilities to improve their lifestyles. On the other hand, most women have early marriages, and it is difficult for them to be involved in the society. We plan to contribute to the gender equality by providing computer and sewing classes to women.
