MALAWI

Chimutu CDP

Chiwoza is located an hour away from Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi with the population of 12,320, VERY POOR. 75% of the residents live on less than a dollar a day. 80% can’t drink clean water, 70% don’t have a clean bathroom, and there is no sewer system in the area. Thanks to such an awful condition, the children are the most affected; the death rate for the age under five reaches 15% and they suffer from the disease like Malaria and AIDS. Good Neighbors Malawi has launched a community development project in Chiwoza since July 2010. We furnish 3,912 children with daycare service, school fees, school supplies, and library. We also run our own Chiwoza school and provide meals and vaccines to help them grow healthy. We also support the community with sewer pipe and toilet installation, and a clinic. Moreover, farming tools are provided and agricultural technique trainings and livestock loans are run as well as the volunteering, community leadership, and women’s rights program.
